RACP ‘self-reports’ to regulators amid mass board resignations and governance turmoil

The college has reported itself to ASIC, the Australian Medical Council and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

The Royal Australasian College of Physicians has reported itself to four separate regulators following the spate of board resignations and governance turmoil, raising the prospect of the college being run by administrators.

President Professor Jennifer Martin sent a new message to Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) members this morning, after six of the 10 board members resigned in the aftermath of last week’s vote of no confidence in president-elect Dr Sharmila Chandran.

The specific reasons for all six resignations remain unclear.

But writing on LinkedIn yesterday, Professor Nada Hamad, a Sydney haematologist, said she had resigned because of “misrepresentations” following the board meeting.
