RACP vs its president-elect: Legal hearing paused with 19 witnesses still waiting to testify
A three-day hearing that pitted the Royal Australasian College of Physicians against its president-elect has been adjourned, likely until 2026, with 19 witnesses still waiting to testify.
President-elect Dr Sharmila Chandran brought the case to the Fair Work Commission, alleging she was bullied by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) hierarchy and the current president, Professor Jennifer Martin.
Dr Chandran’s lawyers had hoped to call as witnesses several employees who also allegedly faced bullying, including one who allegedly developed extreme anxiety as a result.
A former RACP board director, Dr Paul Komesaroff, and former president Dr John Wilson were also scheduled to testify.
