Recently retired GPs given green light to return to practice
Recently retired doctors have been given the nod to temporarily return and fill workforce gaps under changes to AHPRA’s pandemic sub-register.
Until now, the 3176 retired doctors on the sub-register have only been allowed to administer COVID-19 vaccine.
But with cases climbing and state governments pleading for more doctors, the medical watchdog has expanded the scope of their temporary registration to allow them to step back into clinical roles.
It stresses their work must be “directly related” to the COVID-19 response.
