Registrar placement choice overrides bulk-billing clause in training contract, RACGP says
The RACGP says a clause in its new $751 million training contract with the Federal Government that prioritises placements in bulk-billing practices will not interfere with registrar choice or training quality.
After both GP colleges signed new five-year Australian General Practice Training program contracts this month, ACRRM president Dr Rod Martin said he was still waiting for clarification on how the new clause would work.
He said he worried that swathes of regional Australia would be left without registrars if the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing took a strict view of the clause.
Now, the RACGP’s Associate Professor Michael Clements says the bulk-billing element is just one of many that feed into registrar placement and will not be given excessive weighting.
