Registrar’s fellowship dream delayed six months after COVID-19 strikes before exams

A registrar who tested positive for COVID-19 just before the Key Feature Problem exam says the RACGP should have had a backup plan for him to take the test.
Dr Brendan Woodman first got symptoms on Tuesday last week, ahead of Friday’s paper-based Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam and Saturday’s onsite, but computer-based, Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP) exam.
One of 10 candidates who had to pull out of the assessments because of COVID-19, he now faces a six-month delay in attaining his fellowship.
“I contacted the RACGP on Wednesday and was essentially told, ‘Sorry, there’s no backup option,'” said Dr Woodman, who works in Victoria’s Gippsland region, including five hours a week in a GP respiratory clinic.
