Remorseful nurse fined $10,000 after faking registration over 18 months

A former nurse who forged two registration certificates so she could work at a medical centre while unregistered has been fined $10,000.

Janette Slater had allowed her registration to lapse in September 2022 despite receiving reminders from AHPRA to renew it.

Two months later, she applied for a registered nurse position at a medical centre in Bundaberg, 400km north of Brisbane, AHPRA said in a statement.

Despite not being registered, she worked there for 18 months, producing two fake registration certificates in that time.
