Reporting COVID-19 home test results ‘may be compulsory’
People who use proposed home testing kits for COVID-19 may be required under state or territory rules to report any positive results, the TGA chief says.
Professor John Skerrit has flagged that protocols around use of the rapid antigen self-tests will be developed by state jurisdictions and not federal authorities.
His comments to the Senate Select Committee on COVID-19 on Tuesday follow the announcement that members of the public will be able to purchase and use test kits, pending TGA approval, from 1 November.
“This is an important additional protection for Australians,” federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt told reporters.
