Respiratory physician appeals inquest finding implicating him in wife’s death

A sleep doctor has launched an appeal against a coronial finding, which referred him to Victorian prosecutors for criminal charges over his wife's 2015 death.

A physician is appealing a coroner’s findings that referred him to prosecutors for a negligent manslaughter charge after he sliced his wife’s throat open and waited three hours before calling an ambulance.

Dr Peter Spencer, whose medical registration is suspended, was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for the criminal charge by coroner John Cain in June 2023.
