Rheumatologist pay increasing, but still below other specialties

Rheumatologists earned $144 an hour on average in 2017, exclusive data show.

The figures are from MABEL, a longitudinal survey of more than 8000 doctors across Australia.

The results show that in terms of earning power, radiologists top the list at $261 an hour on average, while general practice comes last, with just $102.

However, there is a wide earnings spread within the specialty, with rheumatologists at the 25th percentile earning $103 an hour while those at the 75th percentile earn $175 an hour.
