‘Roughest years of my life’: The hard road to GP fellowship faced by IMGs

Dr Vasuki Annamalai’s GP training could have been over by 2015. 

But it was another half a decade before she received her RACGP fellowship as she was twice stymied by the IMG bureaucracy.

“It was the roughest five years that my family has had,” she says.

She says fears of losing visas or medical registration mean IMGs are loathe to criticise the system.
