RSV vaccine warning after dozens of patients given wrong products

Three different RSV immunisation products have arrived in Australia in the last year and a half.

Children have received adult RSV vaccines and adult women have received a monoclonal antibody indicated for infants in a series of RSV immunisation mix-ups, health officials warn.

The WA Department of Health told AusDoc that 13 doses of RSV immunisation products were delivered incorrectly between 6 February and 12 June 2025 — a 0.07% error rate — although no adverse events were reported.

It comes after a TGA statement last month warning of 84 mistakes nationally as of 13 June.
