SA Health Minister admits authorising leak of patient letter — from the wrong person
The SA Minister for Health and Wellbeing has confessed authorising the release of an email from a patient in response to a critical news story about an unrelated patient with the same name.
Bronwen Paterson told the ABC that her partner, Stephen King, who died from cancer, had spent his final day waiting two hours for an ambulance and then more than an hour ramped at Royal Adelaide Hospital.
In response, Mr Picton’s office sent the journalist a 2023 email to the Premier from “Stephen King”, which praised the SA health system “for consideration in reporting”.
But it was the wrong Stephen King.
