A GP supervisor who worked at Bacchus Marsh Hospital during the baby death scandal has avoided suspension, with a tribunal declaring she is now “safe and competent”.

She worked as a junior doctor at the hospital from 2008 to 2011 under the supervision of the director of obstetrics, Dr Surinder Parhar.

But she became one of 43 doctors and nurses investigated following the cluster of perinatal deaths which were subsequently attributed to varied clinical failings, including inadequate cardiotocography (CTG) training and skills.

The Medical Board of Australia accused her of the inadequate care of seven patients, four of whom had adverse outcomes, such as stillbirths.
