‘Safety net, not substitute’: HotDoc reveals new version of controversial telehealth feature
GP booking site HotDoc is reviving Telehealth on Demand, the feature that offered fast-tracked telehealth appointments to patients trying to book with their usual practice.
The original pilot of Telehealth on Demand offered patients booking “low-complexity” consultations the option of a telehealth doctor, labelled “not your regular care team”.
GPs accused HotDoc of fragmenting care and siphoning away their regular patients, forcing the company to stop the pilot in July and CEO Dr Ben Hurst to apologise.
Now, it is returning, with changes.
