GPs could be advised to screen all adults with type 2 diabetes for metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease from next year, a leading hepatologist says.

Liver ultrasound will also be the first-line option for diagnosing hepatic steatosis in patients at high risk of metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).
