Second adrenaline pen listed on PBS

The addition of a second adrenaline auto-injector on the PBS will mitigate the impact of supply shortages that have frustrated patients living with the threat of anaphylaxis, allergy specialists say.
The new listing of the Anapen button-activated device means there’s an alternative to EpiPen, which was hit by manufacturing delays and device recalls last year, they say.
It is also the first time a 500μg adrenaline auto-injector will be reimbursed for over-12s weighing more than 50kg.
Anapen is available in pharmacies from today and comes in 500μg, 300μg and junior 150μg prefilled pens.
