Secure messaging company says vital services will stay free after GP backlash to $1000 subscription plan

HealthLink will offer an optional $480-a-year premium service.

Australia’s largest secure messaging service, which shelved its idea to charge practices up to $1000 a year to send referrals, has revealed its new pricing plans.

About seven months ago, HealthLink said it would charge subscription fees ranging from $252 to $1000 a year, depending on practice size, to keep its services “cost-effective and scalable”.

It meant GP practices faced paying for something necessary for various government health functions.

These included submitting referrals to the federal My Aged Care program or, for example, submitting Fitness to Drive medical assessments in NSW.
