A surgeon accused of professional negligence and asking his female colleagues for sexual favours has been suspended.

Health officials are investigating claims of sexual and professional misconduct contained in a dossier of letters written by medical practitioners and tabled in Queensland Parliament this week.

A spokesperson for the state’s Metro North Hospital and Health Service said on Thursday they could not comment on active investigations, but confirmed one of its staff members had been suspended.

The surgeon, who Australian Doctor has chosen not to name, had been allowed to continue working despite health officials banning junior female doctors from training with him because of alleged sexual misconduct.
