Dr Bernard Shiu says his Geelong practice's income for May is down 30% due to coronavirus, as experts predict one in 10 practices may be at risk of closure
Victorian GP Dr Bernard Shiu fears he may have to close his practice in the coming months as COVID-19 continues to decimate his revenue.
Dr Shiu’s Geelong practice is among the potential 10% of GP clinics at risk of closing, according to the ABC’s 7.30 Report earlier this week.
Since March, patient numbers have halved and practice income for May was down at least 30%, says Dr Shiu.
On some days, GPs in the practice have no bookings for an entire afternoon.
