AMA president Professor Steve Robson wants more transparency over fees as radiologists complain about price hikes.

The AMA has called for greater transparency from the specialist medical colleges around their methods for setting fees for their trainees.

It follows a row within the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) after it introduced a $6000 fee for “admission to fellowship”.

The fee is paid by those registrars who have successfully met the standards for fellowship for a certificate enabling their registration as a specialist.

The college also increased the fee of its final exam from $5718 last year to $10,200 this year.
