State sees 70% drop in health workers having AstraZeneca vax

Since the Federal Government changed its advice the number of hospital staff taking up vaccination appointments has dropped, says NSW health minister

The number of health workers showing up for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has fallen “dramatically” the since the Federal Government changed its recommendations for use, according to the NSW Minister for Health.

Healthcare workers in the state had failed to turn up to appointments for their AstraZeneca inoculation after the government recommended it only be used by those over 50 following reports of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia in younger recipients, revealed Brad Hazzard on Thursday.
