More than 50 people have died under Victoria’s euthanasia regime in the first six months — including nine who died after being administered a fatal drug by a doctor.

The details have emerged in the state’s latest report on voluntary assisted dying, tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.

It revealed that 136 patients went through an initial assessment by a doctor to ensure they were terminally ill, had decision-making capacity and the suffering they faced was intolerable.

Just one patient was rejected.
