Subscription-based GP practice to open new clinics amid Medicare bulk-billing upheaval
A GP practice that charges membership fees for no-gap consults is opening two new practices, unfazed that the tripling of bulk-billing incentives could threaten the business model.
Evercare, which opened in Brisbane in 2023, has 10 GPs and more than 3000 patients — and plans to open two new practices nearby this year.
Patients pay a $45 monthly membership fee for unlimited ‘no-gap’ appointments — without bulk-billing incentives, which could breach Medicare rules — with GPs keeping 100% of billings.
Evercare CEO Steven Dahl said the looming spectre of bulk-billing incentives tripling on 1 November had partly contributed to the decision to expand.
