Supplements research scandal puts 20 papers in doubt

US family medicine specialist Dr Marty Hinz authored the papers but failed to disclose he owned the company that sold the recommended products

A publisher is investigating 20 papers written by a US doctor that support the use of amino acid supplements for ADHD and other neurotransmitter diseases after it emerged he owned the company that sold them.

GP Dr Marty Hinz published more than 40 research papers between 2009 and 2020, including one that concluded a novel amino acid precursor protocol led to significant improvements in ADHD symptoms.
