A surgeon reprimanded for using a non-sterile chin implant has successfully argued that his name should be redacted from the tribunal’s published decision because patients are cancelling surgeries after researching him online.
He was sanctioned after the chin implant he was shaping slipped out of his hands and fell onto the operating theatre floor.
With no backup implant available, he picked it up, placed it in a bath of Betadine and then continued with the mentoplasty.
He later confessed to the patient, who did not lodge a complaint. They also accepted his offer to replace the implant at no cost.
