Surgeon’s emergency suspension lifted after ‘inexplicable’ medical council blunder

The Medical Council of NSW has been criticised by a judge after it suspended an ENT surgeon without acknowledging his expert defence report questioning the evidence against him.
The doctor — a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and ENT — originally came before the regulators amid concerns he was practising under the influence of illicit drugs.
This July, he was found guilty of professional misconduct for multiple breaches of registration conditions across 2018 and 2019.
These included a regime of urine and hair testing conditions and a requirement to see an addiction medicine specialist.
