Suspended GP accused of calling for genocide gets his court date… five years later
A GP accused of calling for genocide against racial and religious groups has finally secured his date in court, five years since he was suspended under emergency powers.
The Medical Board of Australia action against Dr Jereth Kok back in 2019 followed complaints about a series of social media posts he made on topics ranging from gender dysphoria to abortions and homosexuality.
The board alleged he was guilty of professional misconduct because a number of his comments had been “denigrating, demeaning and slurring” to doctors providing termination services as well as doctors who “recognise people who identify as transgender are not suffering from a mental health condition”.
Dr Kok’s supporters say his references to genocide were “bitterly ironic” and that he has been persecuted for holding politically incorrect views.
