TGA launches probe as GPs urged to prescribe ivermectin ‘COVID cure’

The TGA is investigating promotion of an ivermectin-based regimen as a potential COVID-19 treatment by prominent gastroenterologist Adjunct Professor Thomas Borody.
Professor Borody last week called for GPs to prescribe the triple therapy protocol using ivermectin, doxycycline and zinc and has offered to share his suggested dosing regime with doctors who email him.
The gastroenterologist, medical director of the Centre for Digestive Diseases (CDD) in Sydney, is well-known for developing triple therapy for H. pylori and pioneering faecal transplant therapy in Australia.
He is running a clinical trial in California, US, using the triple therapy for patients with COVID-19 with preliminary results expected in 2022.
