TGA lifts ban on GPs promoting COVID-19 vaccines

GPs can actively promote COVID-19 vaccines to patients following a back-flip by the TGA.
Its ban on offering ‘inducements’ to patients has also been lifted, with practices and other organisations allowed to reward those who have been fully vaccinated.
The watchdog has been under fire from medical groups since the beginning of the national rollout when it said doctors were banned from posting on social media their expert opinion on COVID-19 vaccination if it risked “inducing” a patient to seek out a vaccine.
Even declarations suggesting vaccines are the “best way to protect you and your family from falling seriously ill” fell foul of the law.
