TGA needs to offer doctors a ‘little trust’ on COVID-19 gagging rules, says RACGP

It comes as the Federal Government has set up a 'myth-busting' unit to target COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy theories circulating among the community
Dr Karen Price.

The RACGP is calling on the TGA to loosen its tight control on what GPs can publicly say about the COVID-19 vaccines after the watchdog warned against doctors “inducing” patients to seek a vaccination.

Any public statement promoting the use or supply of a therapeutic good risks breaching Australia’s ban on advertising prescription medications, the TGA said last week.

The restrictions include telling the public that the vaccines are the best way to protect themselves and their family from falling seriously ill.

College president Dr Karen Price said doctors should be offered a “little more trust”.
