TGA reveals second blood clotting event linked to AstraZeneca vaccine

The patient in her 40s remains in hospital and is in a stable condition

A second Australian case of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia has been linked to AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine.

It occurred in a woman in her 40s who was vaccinated in WA.

It is not clear whether the vaccination was administered in a GP practice or through one of the state’s vaccination clinics.

Last night, the TGA’s Vaccine Safety Investigation Group â€” made up of expert advisors including infectious disease physicians and haemotologists â€” reviewed the case in detail and concluded it was similar to those seen in Europe and the UK.
