TGA warns of ‘serious shortages’ in key angina drugs

The TGA is warning GPs of serious shortages of key drugs for the prophylactic treatment of angina.
The supply issues affect Imdur Durules and Monodur Durules isosorbide mononitrate 120mg modified release tablets.
Pharmacists will be allowed to supply patients with alternatives after the medicines watchdog issued a Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument (SSSI) to ensure treatment is not interrupted.
It specifies that pharmacies will be able to dispense registered medicines containing 60mg of isosorbide mononitrate modified release tablets as a substitute.
