The future of GP training? Remote supervision sees registrar set up 1400km offshore
Dr Peter Hopcroft moved to Norfolk Island in September last year with his wife and two children

Dr Peter Hopcroft is completing his GP training 1400km east of Sydney, on a tiny island in the South Pacific.
It’s an unlikely place to find a registrar.
Norfolk Island, an external territory of Australia, has 2000 permanent residents and up to 400 tourists at any one time.
All of these are cared for by three or four GPs, depending on locum availability.
