Franklin River rescue doctor who saved a Lithuanian rafter’s life awarded national honour

A doctor who amputated the leg of a man trapped in the rapids of Tasmania’s Franklin River has been honoured in Lithuania for his actions. 

Hobart emergency specialist Dr Jorian “Jo” Kippax and a team of rescuers saved the life of Lithuanian tourist and whitewater rafter Valdas Bieliauskas in November last year.
