‘The retrieval guy asked which patient to take — there was only room for one’

ACRRM’s next president wants to make the college a household name.
Dr Rod Martin.

“There is a little town on the NSW and Queensland border called Tenterfield. It is the only time I have ever had a chopper on the ground.

“The retrieval guy says, ‘So which of these two sick patients would you like me to take? … We have only got room for one.’

“I kept the one that I could put a chest drain in if needed. I did not have a CT in town but I did have a chest drain.”

This is ACRRM’s next president: Dr Rod Martin, an obstetrics, anaesthetics and emergency medicine VMO who has lived and worked in Armidale in NSW for the past 17 years.
