Patients with endometriosis-related complications are increasingly looking at negligence claims against doctors for failing to diagnose them sooner, a lawyer says.

Kate Waterford says droves of women have contacted her law firm, Maliganis Edwards Johnson, after it published an article outlining legal options for those with delayed endometriosis diagnoses.

About half of the patients were complaining against GPs and half about gynaecologists, she told AusDoc.

“The thing with medical negligence is that what you see coming through the courts is the tip of the iceberg,” she said.
