‘Nursing and medicine are not comparable’: Nurse-turned-GP’s warning on scope of practice
Before medicine, GP Dr Jaimie Drysdale was an experienced nurse contemplating training to become a nurse practitioner.
As a rural generalist in Margaret River, 270km south of Perth, she loves working alongside nurse practitioners.
However, the push for nurses and nurse practitioners to expand their scope of practice worries her.
“The two [professions] just can’t be compared with regards the education and training you go through,” she says.
