Three quarters of those aged over 70 have at least one skin complaint - many needing medical care, study shows

Skin diseases are highly prevalent among adults aged 70 years and older, with 76% of those in this age range reporting at least one skin disease requiring treatment or follow-up, a Finnish study suggests.

Researchers examined data on 552 adults aged 70-93 years old who had a whole-body skin examination performed by a dermatologist.

Overall, nearly 40% of the participants had three or more simultaneous skin diseases.

The most common conditions found included:

  1. Tinea pedis (49%)
