‘This will be a seminal decision’: Lawyer for suspended GP Dr Jereth Kok waits for tribunal judgement
Dr Jereth Kok has spent almost six years suspended under emergency powers for online posts that allegedly endorsed genocide and denigrated other doctors.
The Melbourne GP has waited almost a year for a tribunal to decide whether he committed misconduct with 85 posts, including calling abortion doctors “serial contract killers” and then adding, “What’s wrong with capital punishment for serial contract killers?”
Now his lawyer says the decision, when it comes, will be defining.
“If Jereth’s case is unsuccessful, activists who do not like other political views are going to weaponise the complaints system to try to silence doctors,” John Steenhof told AusDoc.
