Thousands of doctors ‘sitting ducks’ without vax booster

Thousands of vaccinated doctors and nurses are going to be “sitting ducks” due to waning immunity to COVID-19 unless booster vaccines are approved soon, warns a leading not-for-profit healthcare group.
Catholic Health Australia (CHA) is calling on ATAGI to urgently recommend booster doses to the “tens of thousands” of doctors and nurses in their network who were among the first Australians to be vaccinated in February.
Health policy director at CHA, James Kemp, says there is now “strong evidence” that immunity offered against the Delta variant by two vaccine doses begins to wear off after eight months.
“So those who were vaccinated in February may be exposed come October,” Mr Kemp said in a statement.
