Thousands of GP staff in isolation amid new COVID-19 surge: RACGP

Resurgent COVID-19 infections are decimating the GP workforce, with the RACGP warning that up to a fifth of practice staff could be in isolation.
Dr John Deery said his three practices had struggled with staffing since January but the past few weeks had been the toughest so far.
“Because COVID-19 cases went bananas, 10% of our GPs were in isolation.
“It’s maximum costs and minimum revenue – just a perfect storm for practices getting into financial trouble,” the Canberra GP added.
