The Northern Rivers region in NSW has faced disaster not once but twice in the past decade.

Floods and landslides in 2017 and 2022 devastated people’s homes and livelihoods, with Lismore among the hardest hit.

Some locals are still displaced, living with relatives or in homes in a state of disrepair, while others have been offered buybacks.

Many remain severely traumatised by their experience.
