Three in five GPs cite vax rollout as most difficult pandemic issue

More than half also say COVID-19 has impacted their own health and wellbeing, reveals an RACGP survey

Almost three in five GPs report their greatest pandemic-related challenge has been managing patient expectations in the vaccine rollout, a survey shows.

Along with handling “confused and overwhelmed patients”, GPs say the other two top COVID-19 hurdles have been providing the vaccines in a financially viable way and patients not coming into the practices.

The pandemic has also impacted GPs’ health with more than half reporting at least one negative effect on their wellbeing.

The findings come from a survey of 1386 GPs carried out between April and May, which was reported in the RACGP’s annual General Practice: Health of the Nation report.
