Treating patients in a caravan called Priscilla: The story of a bushfire GP

'Some of my patients actually like it', says Dr Jeffrey Lee of his makeshift practice in a fire-scarred camper.

For 12 months now, Dr Jeffrey Lee has been treating his patients in a 20 foot caravan he calls Priscilla.

Consultations take place over the table in the dining booth. And if the patient wants a family member present, they can sit in the loungeroom adjacent.

Dr Lee describes the arrangement as “cosy”.

A prefabricated gazebo does service as the practice ‘waiting room’ while the caravan’s inbuilt bed in a separate curtained area is used by Dr Lee to conduct physical examinations.
