Sexual misconduct complaints that go before a tribunal are on average taking three and a half years to finalise, AHPRA says.

The watchdog provided the figures after questioning at a Senate hearing back in June, although they were not published until two months later.

They showed the 7% of sexual misconduct cases that were referred to a tribunal took a total of 44 months to resolve on average.

This included 18 months on average waiting in the tribunal system.
