Twelve GPs face being stripped of specialist status after AHPRA admin bungle

The regulator says some GPs might have mistakenly been given specialist registration when they were not eligible.

A dozen doctors may have been mistakenly listed as specialist GPs for the past 12 years because of an administrative error dating back to the creation of the national registration scheme.

Australian Doctor has been told that the specialist status of each doctor — none of whom have been named — is now being investigated, with each doctor having to prove they are ‘real’ GPs.
