UK Govt places emergency ban on private scripts for puberty blockers

The UK has imposed an emergency ban on private puberty blocker prescriptions for gender dysphoria, effectively preventing all doctors from prescribing them outside of clinical trials.
“This action has been taken to address risks to patient safety,” the UK Department of Health and Social Care said in a statement this week.
The ban will run from 3 June to 2 September.
“During this period no new patients under 18 will be prescribed these medicines for the purposes of puberty suppression in those experiencing gender dysphoria or incongruence under the care of these prescribers,” the department said.
