Under-40s can get Pfizer from September, General Frewen says

Drive-through clinics and offering a choice of vaccine brand are also now on the agenda

The Federal Government is planning priority vaccines for 30-50-year-olds, drive-through vaccine clinics and eventually letting patients choose their vaccine brand under a refresh of the national rollout.

The measures are outlined in a 51-page plan drawn up by the head of the National COVID Vaccine Taskforce, Lieutenant General John Frewen.

It involves opening eligibility for mRNA vaccines, such as Pfizer, to all adults aged 30 or older from September, then for everybody aged 16 or older from October.

This reflects modelling suggesting that vaccinating these “peak spreaders” as soon as possible will prevent deaths among the most vulnerable, on the basis that the vaccines reduce transmission of the virus.
