‘Unqualified radiologist’ triggers alert over ultrasounds

The owner of an imaging clinic is being accused of performing ultrasounds and writing reports for GPs without registration or any recognised qualifications.
The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission launched the investigation into Li Shen, who runs Medsound Diagnostic Imaging in Sydney, last week.
It said it was also investigating claims that for the last four years she had been illegally using Medicare provider numbers to bulk-bill ultrasounds requested by GPs and other specialists.
And it said there were concerns that she did not have “any recognised ultrasound or medical qualifications”.
