Up to 6000 student nurses getting GP placements under $4.2m govt scheme
The Federal Government will spend $4.2 million to fund 6000 student nurse placements in GP practices and other primary care clinics over three years.
The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association will organise placements for student nurses at GP practices that express interest in hosting, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ged Kearney announced this week.
The association will pay clinics $50 a day to host students for placements of 2-4 weeks.
“We need more student placements in primary healthcare,” said Ms Kearney.
